Jianyin Roachell is a data scientist at MERICS Institute and a freelance data journalist. His research focuses on applied data science in the domain of computational social sciences, digital media debates and data governance. He has a passion for applying civil hacking and big data solutions to empower social innovation. Before joining MERICS, he co-founded Policybot.io while studying for his master’s degree in Chinese and economics at the Julius Maximilians University in Würzburg and Peking University in Beijing. He holds a double bachelor's degree in supply chain management and business analytics and statistics from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
