Marie-Teresa Weber

Marie-Teresa Weber is head of consumer law and media politics at Bitkom, the Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications, and New Media in Berlin. She observes and comments on the political and legislative developments in the field of internet policy in Germany and the European Union. Her main challenge is to find compromises and form a political consensus supported by all Bitkom members in spite of their different backgrounds. Prior to her current position, she worked as a corporate lawyer in a French-German law firm. Marie has worked as an intern in the human rights departments at the permanent missions of Germany to the United Nations in Geneva and New York. She is a fully qualified lawyer, having studied in Mainz, Freiburg and Geneva. During her year at the University of Geneva, she acquired a certificate in transnational law with a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
